On Wednesday (8/30), myself and members of the WDFW and Bull Trout Task Force (BTTF) ventured into the Kachess Valley to survey Box Creek, a tributary of the lake and the home of resident Bull Trout. In the evening, we walked a portion of the creek, taking note of all biological species we found, marking their abundance and location. Western Toads, Tailed Frogs, Cutthroat Trout, Bull Trout, Giant Pacific Salamanders, Giant Water Bugs, Horse-hair Worms, etc. Under the light of the Blue Moon, we ventured upstream in our efforts to restore the habitat and the wonderful species that inhabit its waters. The wilderness is worth protecting, and this area is no exception. Between surveys, I spent the afternoon paddle-boarding around Kachess Lake, much to the chagrin of a local family of Mergansers. Another stellar outing!
